What exactly is a supported cycling holiday?

It’s a holiday where you can just focus on the cycling. Accommodation is booked for you in advance; luggage is transferred daily to your next B&B or hotel; you’re provided with directions, guides and GPS navigation assistance and a support number for emergencies. On the Beacons to Beacon routes you’re also transported from your hotel to the start point and back again at the end.

What do the Grades mean?

The Grades are to help you assess how fit you will need to be for each route.

Will I need Travel Insurance?

Yes. It is a condition of booking that clients have adequate travel insurance with a reputable insurer to cover personal injury, medical expenses, repatriation expenses, loss or damage of luggage and its contents and expenses associated with cancellation or curtailment.

What are the routes like?

The routes are almost exclusively on public roads, often on well signposted National Cycle Routes, otherwise largely on minor country roads or quiet B roads. Occasionally there may be a short stretch on a busier A road or on a designated cycle path through a town where traffic levels are higher. We have looked to incorporate a number of interesting climbs as there’s nothing to beat either the view from the top or the downhill freewheel for satisfaction. See How fit do I need to be for information on grades.

What do I do if I get mechanical problems?

If you’re taking your own bike and can’t fix it by the roadside then please call the emergency number that we provide. Velobreaks will then look to use either or own support vehicle or our network of local partner cycle repair shops and taxi firms to get you back on the road as soon as possible. Replacement bikes for hire bikes will be available if the problem cannot be fixed.
